Meet Our New Executive Chef, Rob Nelson

Longboards Bar & Grill is excited to introduce our new Executive Chef, Rob Nelson. Rob joins us from the Chart House in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, where he has worked as Executive Chef since 2012. He graduated from the Scottsdale Culinary Institute (now known as LE Cordon Bleu) in 1998. He also attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Napa, Ca, where he became certified in their Sommelier program. After that, he spent a year in Europe (primarily France, Germany and Belgium), where he worked in various 1 and 2 star Michelin restaurants.
Rob believes in clean, bright flavors and fresh ingredients. He says that food does not have to be complicated. There is such a thing as too much fusion; sometimes, less is more. Rob does not believe that you have to constantly reinvent the wheel. It is all about the execution. Rob also says, “Food needs to be pleasing to the eye, as we eat with the eyes first.”
